FOCUS BOULDER

13 + 1 bouldering rules

1.   Don’t climb out of the room! Tap the top hold!

The end of the bouldering journey is not the top of the wall, but the last handhold, the TOP hold, which is not enough to touch, but must be confidently “tapped” with two hands. Master the TOP hold!

2.   Climb down instead of jumping!

When you reach the top of your route do not jump off the wall, but try to climb back to at least where you’re 1 metre from the mattress to avoid an ankle injury.

3.   Take the challenge! Climb a climbing route!

A climbing route is a route made up of identical coloured handholds. There are several coloured climbing routes on each section of the wall, so you can choose the difficulty of the challenge.

4.    Follow the “traffic rules”!

Keep an eye out for other climbers, and under no circumstances start a route that crosses their paths.

5.    Use a professional falling technique!

When you fall, aim to land on your feet with bent knees, then roll onto your back. Avoid falling on your hands to protect your wrists.

6.    Don’t use the mattress as a container!

Don’t leave your shoes, tools, locker key or phone on the mattress, as we can’t take responsibility if something gets broken or lost.

7.    Observe who’s around you!

Every route has a “fall zone” where the climber may fall. Make sure that you do not sit, talk or walk in these zones.

8.    Help your partner when they are in need!

You can help your partner, reducing the chances of injury from a fall. But only do it if you are sure of yourself or if the climber has asked you to.

9.    Don’t rush climbing up the wall!

In bouldering, it’s not about height and speed. Climb subtly, cautiously. Turn off the outside world and concentrate!

10.  Keep the room and the handholds clean!

Only liquid magnesia may be used in the room. Feel free to use the brushes to clean the handholds, other climbers will be grateful for it (animators as well, for doing the cleaning for them.)

11.  Don’t climb barefoot!

Climbing shoes are best for climbing. It is forbidden to climb barefoot, in socks or in shoes unsuitable for climbing.

12.  Get rid of your accessories to prevent injuries!

When climbing, do not wear jewellery, necklaces, bracelets or rings. If you have long hair, tie it up.

13.   Be considerate of others!

In the boulder room, please don’t make too much noise, don’t run around and don’t act in a way to attract attention. Simply climb, and you will be admired for it.

+1 Stay focused!
