Boulder. Sport. Development. Experience. We are open!
162 m² of new climbing surface for sport climbing and development.
Active leisure and sports have always gone hand in hand at Bobo Fun Park in Alsópáhok. Over the past three years, more than 30 attractions have offered diverse entertainment for families, corporate teams, and entire school classes, while also providing a home for a growing sport climbing community.
For those seeking a sporty challenge, we have opened a boulder room in the heart of the Arena, featuring 30 routes of varying difficulty and 140 m² of climbing surface. Additionally, we have introduced a new 22 m² boulder wall specifically designed to meet the needs of development programs.
At the opening event, Managing Director Csaba Baldauf welcomed the guests and recalled the early days when the team behind the renowned family-friendly Kolping Hotel launched a new project: the opening of Bobo Fun Park. The goal was to create a leisure center in the Balaton region where both visitors and local residents could enjoy active recreation every day of the year.
The project was made possible with the support of the Active Hungary Program. In his speech, Máriusz Révész, State Secretary for Active Hungary at the Prime Minister’s Office, highlighted the dangers of childhood obesity and the importance of regular physical activity. He emphasized the goal of offering a wide range of options for both children and adults, ensuring that everyone can find a form of exercise they enjoy and can practice regularly. The key to this, he noted, is to experience movement not as an obligation, but as an enjoyable activity.
Beáta Sziné Horváth, the director of Bobo Fun Park, expressed her gratitude to the Hungarian Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation for their continuous professional support, as well as to the Keszthely Rock Climbing Sports Club and the "Hópárduc" Foundation for their ongoing collaboration.
The event's special guest was Nimród Tusnády, a sport climber who participated as the only Hungarian in this year's Olympic Qualification Series in the combined boulder and difficulty climbing event. Before inaugurating the boulder room with his first climb, he emphasized the importance of rural climbing centers in promoting the sport. He noted that climbing is a form of exercise that presents varied challenges, teaches problem-solving, and also how to make mistakes. It was a pleasure to hear that sport climbers build true communities and share their experiences with each other.
After a brief introductory conversation, he climbed several routes, allowing us to learn firsthand from a real professional what to pay attention to and which techniques can help us reach the top holds. Then, the young sport climbers of Bobo Fun Park joined in and challenged themselves on the boulder!
During the weekend, visitors had the opportunity to try out the Focus Boulder room for free at multiple times. Starting from October 9th, you can purchase a separate ticket specifically for the boulder room, without using the Fun Park attractions. However, with the Fun&Climb ticket, you can also make use of the boulder room during your four-hour playtime.
